The purpose of the Student Council shall be to provide service and leadership to the College of Dentistry students, clubs and organizations as a non-profit representative governing body.

Clarke Allen, President, is a 4th year student from 

Mendenhall, MS.  She is a graduate of Xavier University of Louisiana and former President of her dental class. Clarkes' mission is to provide care for people of underserved communities especially those who are disproportionately affected by inadequate medical care. She desires to focus on education and preventative care to reduce the numbers of potentially emergent cases, and plans to have strong working relationships with other health care providers to ensure that the overall quality of life is improved for the people encounter.

Marissa Spruell, Vice President, is a 3rd year student from Winter Haven, FL. She is a graduate of Florida Southern College and former president of her class. Marissa plans on pursuing General Dentistry with an emphasis in Esthetic Dentistry. She hopes to open a dental practice in her hometown, dedicated to enhancing overall oral health and self-confidence for her patients. Understanding the importance of giving back and representation, she plans on creating a mentorship program for minority students interested in pursuing Dentistry.

Jeliah Jones, Recording Secretary, is a 3rd year student from Chicago, IL. She is a graduate of Florida Agriculture and Mechanical University. Jeliah M. Jones, recording secretary, is a 3rd year student from Chicago, IL. She is a graduate of Florida A&M University and served as the Class of 2023 class treasurer for the past two years. Jeliah has aspirations to go into cosmetic dentistry but loves general dentistry. She believes that a healthy smile is the best gift she can provide her community. A verse that she lives by is Luke 12:48: “For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall much be required”

 

Jade Lopez, Corresponding Secretary, is a 4th year student from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. She has served as the 2019-2020 Lead Orientation Ambassador and Director of Public Relations for the Class of 2022. Through her efforts of managing the class social media page, she steadily increased engagement and visibility of HUCD through the eyes of the Class of 2022. She hopes to transform her platform of visibility into a reality by not only connecting the HUCD Student Body with faculty but also with Howard University and other institutions.

 

Terence Bolden, Treasurer, is a 3rd year dental student from Clarksville, Tennessee. He is enthused to be this year’s Student Council treasurer and looks forward to helping out the school with functions that are sponsored by the HUCD community. Outside of dental school he would consider himself to be an avid outdoorsman. He loves going on hikes, kayaking, and exploring/ discovering new things.

Tarik Mitchell, Howard University Student Association Senator, is a 4th year dental student from Miami, Fl. ​He believes that one must find their purpose and while in route, be sure to enjoy every bit of it. During the process and far after,  take the good from every situation, remain humble, have faith, and know that God is faithful. His purpose is to play a role in eliminating health care disparities with an emphasis of treating those from underserved areas. 

Evette Ransaw, Howard University Student Assembly Senator, is a 3rd year dental student Evette Ransaw at HU College of Dentistry. She is originally from Alamogordo,New Mexico. Her parents are veterans which lead to her family moving to Alabama where she obtained her B.S. from Miles college and M.S. from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Since 10th grade, Evette has known she wanted to be a dentist and has refused to let anything stop her. Evette’s main focus is to help restore people’s self confidence by beautifying smiles. 

Sheld'onia Evans, Graduate Student Assembly Representative, is a 4th year dental student from Miami, FL.  She is former president of her class.  Her mantra in life is "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:10 

 

Mieke Hampton, Graduate Student Assembly Representative, is a 4th year year dental student and best-selling author from White Castle, Louisiana. She is a former graduate of Southern University and Agricultural and Mechanical College in Baton Rouge, La. Mieké's goal is to become a general dentist, reduce racial health care disparities, and mentor children in underserved areas. Her mantras are, "there is always room for improvement and growth" and  "aim for perfection, settle for excellence"

 

Shon Tyler, Graduate Student Assembly Representative, is a 3rd-year dental student from Sacramento California. He is a graduate of Arizona State University and has a Post Baccalaureate Degree from Portland State University. He enjoys culinary arts, playing golf, and critiquing films. He approaches life with a Mamba Mentality and lives by one of his favorite maxims; “Activity without accomplishment is wasted time”. He wants to master the field of General Dentistry and be able to provide his patients with superb comprehensive care.
