By creating a professional, consistent, and welcoming environment, Howard University College of Dentistry - Office of Student Affairs, helps to foster the confidence and curiosity of our students while preparing them for their future. Each day is enriched with hands-on experiences, providing ample opportunities for students to improve their knowledge-base while developing essential academic skills.
Class Schedule
The First year of dental school is very challenging. Learning your schedule will help to keep you organized with planning and studying. Our dedicated faculty serve as facilitators in your courses, guiding students through academic exploration and individual learning. Peer Mentors are also assigned to each new students as a source of support.
Peer Mentor Program
Peer Mentors (PM's) are a group of students in the College of Dentistry who assist OSA by helping D-1 students set and attain academic, clinical, career, personal and social goals by offering a perspective from peer's experience.
Orientation Ambassadors
Orientation Ambassadors provide practical support to new students during Orientation Week activities. Orientation Ambassadors are students who are well-respected, academically successful leaders on campus. These students are chosen based upon their current and potential academic, interpersonal and leadership qualities. Ambassadors will also undertake further opportunities to assist with student focused events throughout the year
Housing
Where do I live?
On-campus dormitories are not available for graduate and professional students. There are private housing options very close to campus. We are available to assist incoming pre- and post-doctoral students in finding a place to live in Washington DC and the surrounding areas.

Orientation
An Exceptional Learning Experience
Orientation week will aid in your transition into your first year of dental school. Our wonderful Faculty and Orientation Ambassadors will guide you through the steps to take to become a successful dental student. You will also be paired with a Peer Mentor to provide one-on-one support throughout your first year.
